Ways to lower high blood sugar:

Hi all,

Petunia has a question for us about lowering high blood sugar:

“Hi there,
I would like to know what can I do to bring down my sugar. I have Type 2 diabetes, I’m on Actraphane 30/70 and I don’t have a proper diabetes diet.”

What do you suggest?

The obvious ones that spring to mind are:

1. Eat lots of fresh vegetables, wholegrains, lean protein and no refined carbohydrates.
2. Steer clear of treats like cookies, biscuits, fizzy drinks and sweets.
3. Drink lots of water.
4. Exercise a little every day – even if it’s just walking around the block.
5. Lose weight if necessary.

What do you have to add? Let’s help Petunia out!

  1. hi,
I am also type2 – I find the best thing is exercise. Sometimes you can’t avoid the carbs, but if you walk, run or cycle 30min per day – you can reduce the sugar levels significantly

  3. Hi,

I am T2. I am on LCHF (low carb high fat), it helps to lose weight but more importantly, it brings my numbers down. Google low carb fruits & veg and you get a good indication.
Also Google The Diet Doctor, a really great diet for diabetics.
I agree with the others on exercise.

What are you numbers? Do you test daily with a meter?
